Pints — Pint Rating App

Pints — Early-Stage Product & Marketing Design

Pints is an early-stage startup mobile app designed to help users discover and rate high-quality pints at bars and pubs in their area. Built with a mobile-first mindset, the product emphasizes fast, in-the-moment interactions, location-based discovery, and lightweight feedback—supporting use in real-world social settings where speed and clarity matter. The product was still taking shape when I joined the team, with an initial concept but limited definition around structure, interaction patterns, and positioning. As a startup operating in a culturally specific space, Pints needed to feel familiar to its audience while still offering a clear, differentiated experience. I worked closely alongside a developer and a senior strategy lead to help shape early product direction and execution. I contributed low-fidelity wireframes for core mobile flows, interaction concepts, and competitive research to support positioning. I also designed the high-fidelity marketing website used to preview the product ahead of launch, along with early social media concepts to support initial awareness.

Designing early-stage, mobile-first systems that can grow over time

Because the product was still evolving, the core design challenge was uncertainty. Rather than over-specifying features too early, I focused on establishing flexible interaction patterns that prioritized Pints’ essential behaviors: discovering nearby bars, evaluating pint quality, and contributing quick feedback. Early wireframes allowed the team to iterate quickly while staying aligned with technical constraints and development realities. As the product direction became clearer, I translated these concepts into a cohesive marketing website that communicated the app’s value without over-promising functionality. The site acted as an extension of the product experience—introducing the concept, establishing tone, and supporting the app’s path to launch. Across all deliverables, the emphasis remained on clarity, speed, and real-world usability.
